PURPOSE OF JOB

The volunteer manager coordinates all aspects of volunteers within Alpha USA, especially when it comes to maintaining volunteer engagement. This person understands the strategic impact that volunteers can have to further the mission of Alpha and goes above and beyond to coordinate with the internal team to identify coaching opportunities to connect the right individuals with the right coaching. They do this by recruiting and on-boarding new volunteers, engaging existing volunteers, and identifying ways to enhance our volunteers platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Work with department head to identify volunteer needs, recruit to fill gaps, and match appropriate department/staff member.
  • Oversight of Alpha USA coaches and general volunteers.
  • Oversight of our Alpha USA Volunteer Hub.
  • Identify, assess, recruit and train volunteer leaders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Activate and mobilize volunteers within our systems and structures.
  • Establish strong and positive relationships with volunteer leaders, acting as a point of contact and support.
  • Encourage innovative approaches to enhance the volunteer experience and increase volunteer satisfaction.
  • Oversees on-boarding and off-boarding of volunteers
  • Tracks volunteers' data in Salesforce
  • Regularly meets with Director of Volunteer Network to fill in volunteers needs requested by departments.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Network team in achieving goals.

  • Key Relationships – External: ministry leaders, volunteer leaders

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 Years of Experience with Alpha (on staff or as volunteer)
  • Has Alpha experience and/or story to build credibility with staff, church leaders and churches.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and team building skills
  • Experience leading a department and managing teams and people
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Program & project management skills
  • Strong computer skills and is proficient with technology including social media

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Alpha experience is preferred
