Purpose of Job

The Head of People Operations plays a pivotal role in aligning human resources strategies with business objectives, overseeing recruitment, retention, and employee relations to maintain a flourishing work environment. They ensure compliance with labor laws, manage performance appraisal systems, and create training programs to enhance employee skills. Additionally, they design competitive compensation and benefits packages, lead organizational development initiatives, and establish HR policies. A critical aspect of their role is stewarding the organization’s culture to health by fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace atmosphere. This involves implementing initiatives that promote employee well-being, mental health, and addressing any cultural issues that arise. By coaching staff and leaders, the Head of People Operations fosters a productive, compliant, and healthy workplace culture that supports the organization’s overall success.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to)

Strategy

  • Support the human factor in the company by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, training, development, and nurturing organizational culture.

Staff Engagement

  • Continually nurture positive employee engagement through the use of platforms like 15Five, Best Christian Workplace and others
  • Coordinate the annual Alpha Team Days retreat
  • Work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects, systems and operations

Performance Management & Development

  • Coordinate performance review processes and analyze overall trends
  • Coordinate training sessions and track employee participation.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and programs.

Administration

  • Developing corporate plans for a variety of HR matters such as compensation, benefits, health and safety etc.
  • Serving as the point of contact for employment relations and dealing with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required
  • Monitoring adherence to internal policies and legal standards
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for Insperity or necessary entities

Recruitment

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial interviews
  • Train hiring managers on best practices and utilization of our recruitment tools
  • Grow our organizations talent pipeline

Onboarding

  • Facilitate new hire orientations and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed
  • Assist with the setup of new employees and introductions to the organization

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of the labor laws and screening
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365, 15Five.com, BreezyHR
  • Great leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • MA/MSc in Human Resource Management or a related field preferred
  • Alpha experience is preferred
